Real Madrid vs Manchester United team news

Arda Guler is set to miss out on the chance to make his Madrid debut due to a leg injury.

Carlo Ancelotti lined his side up in a diamond formation against Milan with Jude Bellingham in the hole, a role which he could continue with Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo primed to come into the XI up front.

Andre Onana may make his United debut after joining up with his new teammates last week.

Tyrell Malacia and Amad Diallo are absent with injury while Anthony Martial is yet to regain his fitness. Fred sat out the win over Arsenal due to a personal issue and had been expected to rejoin the squad.

Both teams scored impressive victories to kick off their US tours but United can take advantage of some suspect defending to rack up a confidence-boosting win in Texas.

Manchester United press on with their USA preseason tour with a crunch clash against Real Madrid on July 26 in Houston, Texas.

United have looked strong so far in North America with an impressive 2-0 win over Arsenal building on their earlier summer victories over old rivals Leeds United and Lyon.

However, Los Blancos will pose a stern test for Erik ten Hag's improving charges, on the back of Carlo Ancelotti sealing a 3-2 warm up win over former side AC Milan.

As European seasons are closer to kicking off, the quality of friendlies that teams are playing is rising and Wednesday will feature quite a clash between Manchester United and Real Madrid. With both taking part in Champions League this coming season, squad rotations have to be set early on which is easier said than done considering new additions to each squad. Without Karim Benzema, who is now in Saudi Arabia, Real Madrid are searching for a short-term talisman which Federico Valverde may be able to provide after his brace versus AC Milan. Also integrating Jude Bellingham into midfield, there are quite a few questions for Carlo Ancelotti to answer.

Manchester United are settled in comparison but a backup striker is still needed and there are quite a few questions surrounding the defense, even after a shutout victory over Arsenal. Also, integrating Mason Mount into his attack is key as Erik ten Hag will have a few things to look out for in the match.

While rumors of Kylian Mbappe swirl, it has been hard for Real Madrid to have what can be considered a normal preseason. From advances for Luka Modric from Saudi Arbia and Ancelloti Brazil to Benzema's departure, Los Blancos will need to reinvent themselves ahead of the season to recapture La Liga. They were able to do it post-Cristiano Ronaldo and can certainly figure things out again this season but there is more uncertainty surrounding Real Madrid than normal. Facing United will provide the team with a good litmus test because there isn't much time until the La Liga season starts.

This preseason has been a good time for ten Hag to get a look at younger players on his roster. Depth is critical with the team taking part in Champions League and the more that players like Kobbie Mainoo can do, the better. There is open space in midfield with the departure of Marcel Sabitzer while Fred and Scott McTominay could also leave before the season begins making this quite a time for youth to step up to see who will be behind Christian Eriksen, Casemiro and Mount.

Manchester United's pre season tour continues against Real Madrid on Wednesday, with Erik ten Hag's side taking on Carlo Ancelotti's Spanish giants.

United have won each of their pre-season matches so far against Leeds and Arsenal as they prepare for the new Premier League season and a return to the Champions League. United have been joined on tour by new signings Mason Mount and Andre Onana and are now looking towards building on an impressive first season for Ten Hag.

They face Real Madrid, who beat AC Milan 3-2 in their opening pre season friendly, looking to improve on a season in which they lost their grip on La Liga and the Champions League. Jude Bellingham will likely be in the starting XI for Los Blancos, with the chance to impress against English opposition in the early days of his Madrid career.

The match will take place in Houston, at the NRG Stadium, with as many as 72,220 fans expected in Texas to watch a match between two of the biggest clubs in the world.

United have had a number of young players impressing on tour, with Hannibal Mejbiri and Kobbie Mainoo both staking their claims for a role in the squad for next season. This match will provide an opportunity for these players to further impress against the highest calibre of opposition.
